Hebrews 11:1-6
Hebrews 11 is the great hall of faith. It opens with one of the most quoted verses in the Bible: "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
Faith is not blind optimism. It is confident trust in a God who has spoken and cannot lie.
Three dimensions of biblical faith:
1. SUBSTANCE — faith gives weight and reality to the promises of God. What He has said is as good as done.
2. EVIDENCE — faith sees what the natural eye cannot see. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God (v.3).
3. PLEASURE — without faith it is impossible to please God (v.6). Faith is what delights the Father.
Faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Rom 10:17). The more we feed on Scripture, the stronger our faith becomes.
This week, choose one promise of God you will stand on. Anchor your soul to it. Walk in the assurance that the God who promised is faithful.
